3 Uber Passengers Die, 3 Others Hurt in South Los Angeles Crash
Los Angeles, California: Three people died, and three others were critically injured in a traffic collision involving an Uber rideshare vehicle Saturday morning in South Los Angeles.
According to authorities, the accident occurred around 5:25 a.m. at South Vermont Avenue and West Century Boulevard in Westmont.
The crash happened when, reportedly, a white Mercedes sedan entered the intersection at a high rate of speed and crashed head-on into a black Honda operating as an Uber rideshare, probably waiting to turn left.
A female passenger in the Honda was ejected onto the roadway, and two other female passengers in the same car got trapped in the wreckage. Emergency personnel extricated the passengers and pronounced all three dead at the scene.
A fourth passenger and the Honda’s driver were hospitalized in critical condition, as did the driver of the Mercedes.
