4 Children Injured in DUI Crash in Cupertino

Cupertino, California: Four children were hospitalized after a DUI accident that happened Saturday evening at an intersection in Cupertino.

According to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, the collision took place around 6:14 p.m. at Foothill Boulevard and Stevens Creek Boulevard.

Investigators said four children ages 4, 7, 8, and 11 were on a sidewalk near the intersection when a silver Mazda pickup truck collided with another car, hit a power pole, and crashed into the children.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures, then transported all the children to local hospitals. One of the juveniles was hospitalized in critical condition.

The driver of the pickup truck, 38-year-old Adam Wu, of Cupertino, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of narcotics. He was booked into a jail in San Jose.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
