4 Hurt After Police Chase Ends in Crash at Cherry Avenue and 4th Street in Long Beach

Long Beach, California: Four people were injured in a traffic collision involving a car being pursued by police Monday afternoon at an intersection in Long Beach.

At around 5:30 p.m., Long Beach police were chasing a car eastbound on 4th Street when the driver ran a red light at Cherry Avenue.

The suspect’s car was hit by a passenger vehicle heading southbound on Cherry Avenue.

The suspect vehicle was sent by the force of the impact into three unoccupied vehicles parked near the scene.

Police said the male driver of the suspect car exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended in the 2000 block of Florida Street.

A male passenger in the suspect vehicle was extricated from the car.

Both suspects were hospitalized with upper body injuries.

Two men in the other car were also hospitalized with upper body injuries.

All patients were listed in stable condition.

Investigators closed the intersection following the collision.
