Four People, Including Child, Hurt in Bakersfield Car Accident at Old River Road and White Lane
4 Injured, Woman Arrested, After Street Race Ends in Crash in Southwest Bakersfield
Bakersfield, California: Four people were injured in a multi-vehicle accident caused by alleged street racing Monday evening near an intersection in southwest Bakersfield.
The accident happened around 6:53 p.m. near Old River Road and White Lane.
Bakersfield police arrested 19-year-old Meylin Rosi Barrera following the collision.
Investigators said Barrera was driving a white newer model Chevrolet Camaro, allegedly involved in an illegal street race with another driver in a black newer model Chevrolet Camaro.
The vehicles were traveling southbound on Old River Road when Barrera’s car crashed into several other vehicles stopped at a red light near the intersection.
The black Camaro drove over the center median of Old River Road after the collision and drove away heading eastbound on White Lane.
Barrero stopped after the crash and cooperated with authorities.
Three adults and a child sustained minor injuries in the accident.
Barrera was evaluated for her injuries and cleared at a hospital. She was arrested for several charges, including participation in an illegal speed contest, reckless driving, and child endangerment. Authorities did not mention which car the child occupied.
