4 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in Highway 165 Crash in Turlock

Turlock, California: Four people died in a two-vehicle collision that happened Sunday morning at an intersection in Turlock, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The wreck occurred around 9:25 p.m. on Highway 165 at Greenway Avenue.

CHP said a 22-year-old Modesto man was driving a 2008 Infiniti sedan speeding northbound on Highway 165, approaching Greenway Avenue.

At the same time, a 54-year-old man was driving a 2023 Jeep SUV westbound on Greenway Avenue.

Authorities said the Jeep had a stop sign but entered the intersection directly in front of the Infiniti.

The Infiniti struck the left side of the Jeep.

The 22-year-old Modesto man died in the crash. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision.

The 54-year-old driver of the Jeep, his 45-year-old female front right passenger, and a 16-year-old female left rear passenger, all from Turlock, also died in the crash.

Two other passengers in the Jeep – a 19-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy – were hospitalized with serious injuries. Both are Turlock residents.

Authorities said all the Jeep occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Investigators are working to determine the factors that may have contributed to the collision.
