5 Children Hospitalized After Pollock Pines Crash
Pollock Pines, California: Five children were hit by a van while they crossed Pony Express Trail on a marked crosswalk Wednesday morning in Pollock Pines.
According to the California Highway Patrol, three victims suffered major injuries, and two sustained minor injuries.
The incident occurred at around 10:42 a.m. on Pony Express Trail near Oak Street.
Authorities said the children were crossing on a marked crosswalk when a Ford E-150 driven by a 21-year-old driver struck them.
The area has no stop lights or stop signs.
Two of the children, a boy and a girl, were taken to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
Another boy was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with major injuries.
A third boy and a girl were hospitalized at Marshall Medical Center with minor injuries.
At least four victims were taken to the hospitals by air ambulances.
All the children are elementary school-aged students and are believed to be learners at the nearby Montessori school.
Police said the driver of the utility van involved stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Investigators do not believe drugs, alcohol, or excessive speed contributed to the crash. However, the investigators said they would look into whether distracted driving played a role.

Sacramento County, California: Two people were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Thursday afternoon at an intersection in Antelope.
According to the Sacramento Metro Fire District, the accident occurred around 1:50 p.m. at Antelope and Roseville roads.
Three vehicles collided, trapping two occupants in the wreckage.
Firefighters responded to the scene and freed the victims. The patients were taken to the hospital with major injuries.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.

Kenneth Joseph McLeod Killed in Irvine Motorcycle Accident
Irvine, California: 65-year-old Kenneth Joseph McLeod died after he collided with a car while riding a motorcycle Wednesday afternoon at an intersection in Irvine.
The accident was reported around 4:50 p.m. at Alton Parkway and Foster.
Investigators said McLeod was riding a motorcycle southbound on Alton when he ran a red light at Foster and crashed into a Tesla turning left from northbound Alton onto westbound Foster.
The Tesla had a green light at the time of the crash.
McLeod died at the scene from the injuries he sustained in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Woman Hospitalized After Victorville Pedestrian Accident at Roy Rogers Drive and Amargosa Road
Woman on Motorized Wheelchair Hit and Injured by Car in Victorville
Victorville, California: A woman riding a motorized wheelchair was injured when she was hit by a car Thursday morning at an intersection in Victorville.
The accident was reported around 8:48 a.m. at Roy Rogers Drive and Amargosa Road.
Victorville police, firefighters, and AMR responded to the scene.
The victim was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
A man driving a black Nissan was found at the scene but it was not clear if he was the driver involved in the accident.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
