5 Hurt After Amtrak Train Collides with Semi-Truck in Ventura County

Ventura County, California: Five people were hospitalized after a train collided with a semi-truck Tuesday evening between Somis and Moorpark.

The collision was reported around 6:30 p.m. on SR-118 at Sand Canyon Road.

According to the Ventura County Fire Department, the Amtrak Surfliner was heading to Los Angeles with 95 passengers and 5 crew members on board when it collided with a semi-truck, causing the train to partially derail.

Six train cars were involved, one of which derailed but remained upright.

Five people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The semi-truck driver was evaluated for injuries, but their condition remained unknown.

The accident impacted both train and road traffic in the area.
