5 Injured in Fatal Santa Barbara Crash on SR 154 Identified

Santa Barbara, California – Authorities have released the names of the victims of a fatal car crash that happened in Santa Barbara on Saturday morning.

The accident happened around 1:24 a.m. on Highway 154 near San Antonio Creek Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A 22-year-old man from Florida was driving a Nissan on the highway when he drifted into the opposite lanes and collided head-on with an oncoming Infiniti QX60 SUV.,

The unidentified driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Infiniti, who has since been identified as Maria Estella Suarez Jimenez, 57, of Oxnard, was injured in the accident.

69-year-old Rosa Marie Suarez, 61-year-old Ofelia Vargas Suarez, 75-year-old Maria Suarez Garibay and 53-year-old Jaime Jimenez Suarez, all residents of Oxnard, were riding in the Infiniti and were transported to the hospital for treatment.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
