5 Killed in Crash Involving Minivan and Semi-Truck in Chemult
Klamath County, Oregon: Five people died in a traffic collision involving a minivan and a semi-truck that happened Wednesday morning near Chemult.
Oregon State Police said the collision happened around 9:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 97 near Milepost 193.
The roadway was icy when the vehicles collided.
Five people died in the accident.
The highway remained shut down until around 5 p.m. for an investigation.
However, around 7 p.m., another collision occurred four miles to the south and two miles south of the Highway 58 junction. The second crash forced another closure of the highway until 11 p.m.
Police said the slick, icy road conditions played a factor in the crashes.
