Seven People Hospitalized After Multi-Vehicle Accident Involving Wrong-Way Driver on Guide Meridian

7 Injured in Bellingham Wrong-Way Crash
Bellingham, Washington: Seven people were hospitalized after a wrong-way car hit several other vehicles Wednesday evening in Bellingham.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision occurred at around 7 p.m. on southbound Guide Meridian near Kelly Road.
WSP said a vehicle was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when it sideswiped a car.
The wrong-way driver then hit a second vehicle head-on and continued driving the wrong way, hitting a third car and sending it into a ditch.
The wrong-way vehicle burst into flames.
The driver of the wrong-way car, Aaron Dexter, 45, of Blaine, and a 10-year-old passenger were hospitalized at Harborview Medical Center.
A 20-year-old passenger from one of the other cars was also taken to the same hospital.
Three other drivers and a 3-year-old passenger were transported to Peacehealth St. Joseph Medical Center.
All victims sustained unspecified injuries.
Authorities believe Dexter was under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the crash.
Charges against Dexter were pending.
An investigation is ongoing.
