8 Injured After Car Collides with Bus in Antioch

Antioch, California: Eight people were injured in a traffic collision involving a car and a bus Thursday afternoon in Antioch, authorities said.

The collision was reported around 12:30 p.m. on Laurel Road at the on-ramp to eastbound Highway 4.

Reportedly, the driver of a car accidentally ran a red light at the intersection and hit a Tri Delta Transit bus.

The car driver was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Seven passengers on the bus were also hospitalized with complaints of pain.

Authorities said some of those injured were in their 70s and 80s.

Police said speed, drugs, and alcohol were not considered contributing factors.
