86-Year-Old Man Killed in Rollover Collision on Old Highway 395 in Bonsall Identified

Bonsall, California: The San Diego County Medical Examiner identified the man who died last month in a two-vehicle collision on Old Highway 395 in Bonsall.

86-year-old Thomas Carl Asper died in the collision that happened around 7:41 a.m. on January 31 on the southbound side of the highway west of the Interstate 5 off-ramp.

The Fallbrook man was driving a maroon Toyota Venza southbound on Old Highway 395 just before the collision.

At the same time, an 18-year-old Wildomar woman was driving a black Jaguar XF on the off-ramp of I-15 southbound to Old Highway 395. The woman stopped, then pulled into the intersection and collided with Asper’s SUV.

The SUV overturned, ejecting Asper.

Responding paramedics transported Asper to Palomar Medical Center while performing life-saving measures. The man was pronounced dead at the facility less than one and a half hours after the accident.

The woman was not injured.

An investigation is ongoing.
