Cyclist Sustains Life-Threatening Injuries in Santa Rosa Crash
Santa Rosa, California: A bicyclist sustained life-threatening injuries after colliding with a car Thursday afternoon in Santa Rosa, police said.
The crash also left the driver of the involved vehicle arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs.
Santa Rosa police said the accident was reported at around 5:07 p.m. on West Steele Lane near McBride Lane.
Witnesses and the driver involved told authorities that a woman was riding her bicycle on West Steele Lane and, as she passed McBride Lane, appeared to swerve into the westbound lane.
The cyclist was hit by the left side of a westbound Honda.
The woman was thrown to the ground, sustaining life-threatening injuries. Emergency personnel took the cyclist to the hospital for treatment.
The car was traveling at about 15 mph at the time of the collision, as per the witnesses.
Police identified the driver of the car as Michael Steven Gutierrez, 65, from Santa Rosa.
The officers searched Gutierrez’s car after they spotted drug paraphernalia in it during their investigation and found several large bindles of suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle, along with a scale and other drug paraphernalia.
Gutierrez was arrested on suspicion of possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics for sale.
The driver was, however, not believed to have been intoxicated at the time of the collision.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Sacramento County, California: Two people were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Thursday afternoon at an intersection in Antelope.
According to the Sacramento Metro Fire District, the accident occurred around 1:50 p.m. at Antelope and Roseville roads.
Three vehicles collided, trapping two occupants in the wreckage.
Firefighters responded to the scene and freed the victims. The patients were taken to the hospital with major injuries.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.

Kenneth Joseph McLeod Killed in Irvine Motorcycle Accident
Irvine, California: 65-year-old Kenneth Joseph McLeod died after he collided with a car while riding a motorcycle Wednesday afternoon at an intersection in Irvine.
The accident was reported around 4:50 p.m. at Alton Parkway and Foster.
Investigators said McLeod was riding a motorcycle southbound on Alton when he ran a red light at Foster and crashed into a Tesla turning left from northbound Alton onto westbound Foster.
The Tesla had a green light at the time of the crash.
McLeod died at the scene from the injuries he sustained in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Woman on Motorized Wheelchair Hit and Injured by Car in Victorville
Victorville, California: A woman riding a motorized wheelchair was injured when she was hit by a car Thursday morning at an intersection in Victorville.
The accident was reported around 8:48 a.m. at Roy Rogers Drive and Amargosa Road.
Victorville police, firefighters, and AMR responded to the scene.
The victim was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
A man driving a black Nissan was found at the scene but it was not clear if he was the driver involved in the accident.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
