Alexander Zagarino Killed in Head-On Collision on Highway 44 in Shingletown

Shingletown, California – Alexander Miller Zagarino, 31, of Oakland, has been identified as the man who died in a head-on collision that happened on Friday evening in Shingletown.

According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, the accident was reported at around 7:45 p.m. on Highway 44 just west of Ally Gold Way.

Zagarino was driving a Nissan Frontier westbound on Highway 44 when he drifted into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming GMC Sierra truck with two occupants.

Zagarino was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two occupants of the Sierra, 43-year-old Thomas Stewart and 38-year-old Jennifer Stewart, were taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
