Indio, California – 54-year-old Alfonso Andrade, of Coachella, has been identified as the bicyclist who died after being struck by a car on Thursday night in Indio.
The fatal bicycle accident happened in the 54000 block of Grapefruit Boulevard at around 11:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Andrade was riding a bicycle in the area and was struck by a car on the highway in unclear circumstances. A second driver reportedly struck the cyclist who was still on the highway.
Andrade was killed in the accident.
Authorities say the first vehicle did not stop at the accident scene.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
