Arturo Hernandez ID’d as Man Killed in Yuba City Crash on SR 299

Yuba City, California – 61-year-old Arturo M. Bolanos Hernandez of Springfield, Missouri, has been identified as the man who died in a car crash on Saturday evening in Yuba City.

The accident was reported at around 7:02 p.m. on State Route 99 near Garden Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Hernandez was driving a 2017 Ford Fusion northbound on SR 299 while, at the same time, a Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by 42-year-old Simon Lopezlobato of Yuba City was also northbound on State Route 99 in the number two lane.

Authorities say a Hernandez “failed to negotiate the sharp right-hand turn for the on-ramp” and drifted into the path of the pickup truck, and the vehicle was hit on the driver’s side door.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and performed CPR on Hernandez, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Lopezlobato and 52-year-old Joga Gill of Yuba City, who was a passenger in the Ford Fusion, were injured in the accident and were transported to Adventist Health/Rideout.

Authorities believe Hernandez was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the collision is underway.
