Berkely Woman Dies Weeks After Pedestrian Accident in Berkely
Berkeley, California: A Berkeley woman died weeks after she was struck by a car at an intersection in Berkeley.
The victim was identified by community members as Julia Elkin, 37, who worked at Sonoma Land Trust.
According to Berkeley police, the accident happened around 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 12 at Marin Avenue and Oxford Street.
A car was traveling west on Marine Avenue when the driver stopped at a stop sign at Oxford Street and then proceeded through the intersection.
The vehicle hit the pedestrian as it entered the intersection.
Elkin was taken to a local hospital with major injuries.
The deceased was an alumna of the University of Michigan. According to the university’s alumni page, Elkin was in the ICU with traumatic brain injury after the accident. She was on life support before she died.
