Bicyclist Dies After Colliding with Vehicle at 23rd Street and Glen Avenue in Merced
Merced, California: A cyclist died after he collided with a car Friday night at an intersection in Merced.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. at 23rd Street and Glen Avenue.
Merced police officers and paramedics responded to the scene after they received reports of a bicycle accident.
The responders found a man lying in the roadway with injuries. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to witnesses, the man was riding a bicycle westbound on 23rd Street parallel to a car traveling in the same direction, approaching Glen Avenue. The car stopped near the intersection but the cyclist continued to enter the intersection. He was struck by another vehicle going northbound on Glen Avenue.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
