Bicyclist Dies Days after Colliding with Car in San Jose
San Jose, California: A cyclist who was struck and seriously injured by a van last week in San Jose died Tuesday, according to the San Jose Police Department.
The accident happened around 7:40 a.m. near Monterey Road and Alma Avenue.
Police said the collision happened when a 2019 white Ford van traveling northbound on Monterey attempted to turn into a parking lot and hit a male cyclist going northbound in the bike lane.
The rider lost control and crashed into a fire hydrant.
Emergency personnel took the victim to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was stabilized. However, the patient died a few days later on December 19.
The van driver cooperated with investigators.
