Bicyclist Hit and Killed by Truck in Phoenix

Phoenix, Arizona: 37-year-old Harlan Slender died after being hit by a truck while riding a bicycle near an intersection in Phoenix, police said.

The accident occurred around 6 p.m. Tuesday near 75th Avenue and Hazelwood Street.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and rushed Slender to the hospital. Life-saving measures on the cyclist were unsuccessful, and the victim was pronounced dead at the facility.

According to witnesses, Slender attempted to cross 75th Avenue on his bike when he got hit by a truck.

The male driver of the truck and two passengers stayed at the scene after the collision.

Police said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors.
