Bicyclist Killed in Fresno Crash Involving Big Rig Identified

Fresno, California: Authorities identified the cyclist who died after colliding with a semi-truck Monday afternoon in Calwa as 35-year-old Daniel Reason.

The accident occurred at around 12:30 p.m. on Cedar Avenue near Jensen Avenue.

Investigators said Reason was riding his mountain bike near Calwa Elementary School when he made a left turn off the sidewalk right into the path of a 2017 Kenworth truck.

The cyclist hit the back axles of the big rig’s trailer, and the trailer’s right-side tires drove over him.

First responders pronounced Reason dead at the scene.

Officers said the rider was not wearing any protective gear, but that would not have helped his injuries due to the crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
