Bicyclist Killed Last Month in Sherwood Crash Identified

Washington County, Oregon: The cyclist who died after being hit by a vehicle last month in Sherwood was identified as 78-year-old Dana Deardorff.

The fatal crash happened around 11:30 a.m. November 20, near the 17000 block of Southwest Roy Rogers Road.

Police received a call from the driver of a 2013 Mazda MZ5 reporting they had hit a bicyclist.

A witness performed CPR on the victim before first responders arrived.

Deardorff was, however, pronounced dead despite the life-saving measures.

Investigators learned that the Mazda driver was traveling southbound on SW Roy Rogers Road when Deardorff veered across traffic lanes from the northbound side. The car driver was unable to stop on time and hit the cyclist.

Authorities did not mention possible factors that contributed to the accident.
