James Brown Killed in Oakland Bicycle Crash on 105th Avenue
Bicyclist Killed in Fatal Crash Involving 2 Drivers on 105th Avenue
Oakland, California – Police are investigating a deadly bicycle collision that killed James Brown, 51, Thursday last week, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The accident happened at around 11:56 p.m. on June 20, in the 500 block of 105th Avenue.
Police said James was hit by a silver or white early 2000s BMW that was driving at a high rate of speed on northbound 105 Avenue. The vehicle then fled the scene leaving James lying in the roadway.
He was then hit by a male driver in a silver Saturn sedan a while after 12:00 a.m. June 21. The Saturn driver stopped and removed part of Brown’s damaged bicycle from underneath his vehicle before fleeing.
Responding officers found the cyclist lying unresponsive on the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second car was found in the area but no arrests have been made.
