Chula Vista, California – The Chula Vista Police Department has identified 71-year-old Bob Hilborn as the cyclist severely hurt in a traffic crash earlier this month.
The major collision happened 1600 block of Wueste Road at about 12:27 p.m. on August 4.
Police confirmed Hilborn was cycling his bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle.
Hilborn was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries including fractures to his legs and pelvis.
The involved driver, a woman in her 30s, was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol officers on charges unrelated to the collision.
An investigation is underway.

A motorcyclist reportedly collided with a vehicle on the roadway in unclear circumstances.
The male rider was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Oxnard, California: A motorcyclist was hospitalized in critical condition after being involved in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Saturday afternoon at an intersection in Oxnard.
The incident was reported around 4:45 p.m. at Ventura Road and Second Street.
Authorities said a 26-year-old Bakersfield man was driving a 2022 Toyota Tacoma heading northbound on Ventura Road when he failed to yield to three other drivers while making a left turn at the intersection and caused a collision.
A motorcyclist involved in the crash was hospitalized in critical condition.
Officers are investigating drug impairment as a possible contributing factor.

The accident was reported just after 2 p.m. on State Route 160 near State Route 12.
A rider on a red motorcycle reportedly attempted to pass a black Ford Focus but hit it.
Solano County firefighters responded to the scene and requested an air ambulance to transport the seriously injured rider to a hospital.
The victim was airlifted to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center in unknown condition.
Authorities are investigating the accident.
