Boy, 15, Injured in Encinitas Scooter Accident on El Camino Real

Encinitas, California – A 15-year-old boy was seriously after being struck by a van while riding an electric scooter in Encinitas on Thursday evening.

The collision happened around 6 p.m. in the 500 block of South El Camino Real, according to the San Diego County Sheriffs Department’s North Coastal Station.

The boy was riding an e-bike and was struck by a work van in unclear circumstances.

The teen suffered major injuries and was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

The van driver was unhurt and remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Authorities ruled out alcohol and/or drugs as factors in the accident.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
