Boy, 8, Injured in Madera Pedestrian Accident at Ellis and Owens
Madera, California – An 8-year-old boy was hospitalized after being struck by a car as he walked to school on Tuesday morning in Madera.
The California Highway Patrol says the accident happened around 7:20 a.m. on Ellis Street and Owens Street.
The boy and his brother were walking to school with his older brother when they were directed into the street by a crossing guard.
A 26-year-old man driving a Honda did not see the boys cross the street and struck the 8-year-old.
The boy suffered major injuries in the accident and was transported to Valley Children’s Hospital for treatment.
The boy’s older brother was unhurt
The Honda driver stayed at the accident scene and cooperated with the authorities.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
