Boy Hit and Killed by Car While Riding in Lomita, San Diego

San Diego, California: An 11-year-old boy was injured after being struck by a car while riding a bicycle Thursday afternoon in San Diego’s Lomita neighborhood.

The accident happened at around 5:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Woodrow Avenue.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the boy crossed over the northbound lane and went onto the east sidewalk, then turned back and left the sidewalk in a westerly direction.

At that time, a 37-year-old woman was driving a Hyundai Elantra in the northbound lane when she hit the child as he entered the lane.

Paramedics transported the boy to the hospital with a fractured left femur and tibia. The injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

The driver of the car was not injured and cooperated with investigators.
