Boy Hit, Seriously Injured by Car While Playing in La Playa, San Diego
San Diego, California: An 11-year-old boy was hit and seriously injured by a car Saturday evening while he was playing with a friend in San Diego’s La Playa neighborhood.
The incident happened just after 7 p.m. on Catalina Boulevard.
The San Diego Police Department said the boy and his friend were having a sword fight when he was struck by a 2018 Ford Fusion heading south on Catalina Boulevard.
The boy stepped into the path of the car from a dirt path along the west curb line near a wooded area.
Emergency personnel responded and transported the boy to a hospital with multiple injuries, including a fractured pelvis, head hematoma, and abrasions.
The driver was not injured.
Police are investigating the accident.
