Esias Ramos-Berhane Fatally Injured by Car on Camden Avenue

San Jose, California – According to the San Jose Police Department, Esias Amaru Ramos-Berhane has been identified as the 12-year-old boy killed in a scooter accident on Tuesday afternoon in San Jose.

The accident happened in the Cambrian Park neighborhood a while before 4:30 p.m. August 6, on Camden Avenue near Leigh Avenue.

Ramos-Berhane was reportedly on a scooter and was crossing the street near a crosswalk when a 2006 Chevy pickup truck struck him.

Ramos-Berhane was declared dead at the crash site.

The pickup driver was heading westbound on Camden and was on a green light when the crash occurred.

The driver stayed at the crash site and was cooperative.

According to a witness report, Ramos-Berhane was with three of his friends when he attempted to cross the road.  His friends managed to cross while Ramos-Berhane was the last one and did not make it.

Police blocked westbound Camden Avenue between Leigh and Charmeran avenues for several hours to give way to an on-scene investigation.
