Boy Killed in Warner Springs Pedestrian Accident on SR 79 near Peralta Drive

San Diego, California – A 16-year-old boy riding a skateboard died after being struck by a car in the Warner Springs area of Riverside County on Sunday night.

The fatal crash happened at around 8 p.m. on State Route 79 near Peralta Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A Mitsubishi was traveling southbound and was unable to avoid hitting the skateboarder on the highway.

The boy, a Warner Springs resident, was transported to Inland Valley Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment.

The 74-year-old male driver of the Mitsubishi and the 70-year-old female passenger were unhurt.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
