Boy Riding Off-Road Vehicle Hit, Injured by Truck in Kings County

Kings County, California: A 12-year-old boy was hospitalized with major injuries after being struck by a truck while riding an off-road vehicle Friday evening in Kings County.

The California Highway Patrol said the collision occurred at around 7 p.m. near Gale and 28th avenues, north of the Avenal Cutoff Road.

According to the report, the 12-year-old boy was riding an off-road vehicle when he crossed Gale Avenue directly in front of a Chevy truck.

The truck driver slammed the brakes to avoid a crash, but the Chevy still hit the boy.

Authorities said there was an obstruction that prevented both the driver and the kid from seeing each other.

The boy was transported to Valley Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.

The truck driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
