Brian Smith Killed in Vina Motorcycle Accident at South and Gardiner Ferry

Tehama County, California – Brian James Smith, 47, has been identified as the motorcyclist who was killed in a collision who died in a collision near Vina in Tehama County on Saturday afternoon.

At around 2 p.m., the California Highway Patrol Red Bluff Office was notified of a motorcycle accident on South Avenue at Gardiner Ferry Road.

James was riding a 2019 Harley Davidson motorcycle west on South Avenue when he was struck by a 1998 Buick driven by Joseph M. Russo, 87, of Corning.

The car had been traveling eastbound on South Avenue and was making a left turn at the intersection when it struck the rider.

Smith, a resident of Orland, was wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Russo suffered minor injuries in the collision.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
