Bryant Noyola and Norma Rodriguez Killed in Merced Crash on Highway 99

Merced, California – Bryant Noyola, 22, and Norma Rodriguez, 49, have been identified as the two people who were killed in a head-on collision early Thursday morning in Merced.

The fatal collision happened at around 4:15 a.m. on Highway 99, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Noyola was driving a 2002 Hyundai Elantra the wrong direction on the highway when she collided head-on with a Chevy Tahoe driven by 43-year-old Modesto resident Gonzalo Ahumbra, causing it to flip onto its roof and catch fire.

California Highway Patrol officers pulled Rodriguez from the Tahoe, but she succumbed to her injuries at the accident scene.

Noyola also died at the accident scene.

Ahumbra was critically injured in the accident and was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. His two passengers were also hospitalized with moderate injuries.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
