Caltrans Worker Hit by DUI Driver During Power Outage in Jamestown
Jamestown, California: 52-year-old Daniel Texeira of San Andreas was the Caltrans worker who got hit and injured by a DUI driver early Monday morning on Highway 108/49 in Jamestown.
The California Highway Patrol said the incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. near the intersection with 5th Avenue.
Authorities said there was a PG&E power outage in the area, and Texeira was placing cones out to make the intersection safe because traffic lights were out. The Caltrans worker was wearing an orange reflective vest and hard hat with a Halo light.
29-year-old Devyn Gonzales was driving a 2022 Subaru Impreza west on Highway 108/49 when she made a left turn onto southbound 5th Avenue. As Gonzales drove left of the solid double yellow lines, cutting the corner, she failed to see Texeira and hit him with the left front of her car.
Texeira was taken by ambulance to Adventist Health Sonora with moderate injuries.
Police arrested Gonzales for felony DUI. The driver was booked into Tuolumne County Jail.

Sacramento County, California: Two people were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Thursday afternoon at an intersection in Antelope.
According to the Sacramento Metro Fire District, the accident occurred around 1:50 p.m. at Antelope and Roseville roads.
Three vehicles collided, trapping two occupants in the wreckage.
Firefighters responded to the scene and freed the victims. The patients were taken to the hospital with major injuries.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.

Kenneth Joseph McLeod Killed in Irvine Motorcycle Accident
Irvine, California: 65-year-old Kenneth Joseph McLeod died after he collided with a car while riding a motorcycle Wednesday afternoon at an intersection in Irvine.
The accident was reported around 4:50 p.m. at Alton Parkway and Foster.
Investigators said McLeod was riding a motorcycle southbound on Alton when he ran a red light at Foster and crashed into a Tesla turning left from northbound Alton onto westbound Foster.
The Tesla had a green light at the time of the crash.
McLeod died at the scene from the injuries he sustained in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Woman Hospitalized After Victorville Pedestrian Accident at Roy Rogers Drive and Amargosa Road
Woman on Motorized Wheelchair Hit and Injured by Car in Victorville
Victorville, California: A woman riding a motorized wheelchair was injured when she was hit by a car Thursday morning at an intersection in Victorville.
The accident was reported around 8:48 a.m. at Roy Rogers Drive and Amargosa Road.
Victorville police, firefighters, and AMR responded to the scene.
The victim was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
A man driving a black Nissan was found at the scene but it was not clear if he was the driver involved in the accident.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
