Child Hospitalized After Phoenix Crash near 11th Avenue and Buckeye Road

Child Hit and Critically Injured by Phoenix PD Patrol Car
Phoenix, California: A child suffered critical injuries after being hit by a Phoenix Police Department patrol vehicle Wednesday evening.
Two police officers had, just before 6 p.m., finished a call for service near 11th Avenue and Buckeye Road when they turned to go northbound.
A young girl waved at the officers as they drove. The officers were looking at the girl when they noticed another child in the roadway last minute.
The officer driving the car attempted to avoid a crash but was unsuccessful and struck the kid.
Emergency personnel transported the victim to the hospital in critical condition.
Investigators learned that the girl that waved at the officers was trying to alert them that the child had darted into the street.
Speed was not believed to be a contributing factor.
