Child on Bicycle Hit by Vehicle in Concord

Concord, California: A child riding a bicycle in a crosswalk was hit and injured by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Concord, police said.

The incident happened at around 2:15 p.m. at Cowell Road and Treat Boulevard.

Police responded to the scene after receiving reports of a large commercial vehicle hitting a child on a bicycle.

The officers found out that the child was riding in the crosswalk at the intersection when the vehicle struck them as it turned from Treat Boulevard onto Cowell Road.

The child sustained lower leg injuries. Medical personnel transported the victim by ground ambulance to Oakland Children’s Hospital for treatment.

Authorities did not immediately give details about the involved driver or vehicle.
