CHP Officer Injured After Driver Runs Red Light at Fresno Intersection

Fresno, California: A California Highway Patrol Officer was injured after another driver ran a red light at an intersection in Fresno.

The collision occurred Wednesday morning at Olive Avenue and Clovis Avenue.

According to CHP, one of their officers was stopped in his marked vehicle on Olive Avenue in the No. 2 lane, waiting for a green light.

When the light turned green, the officer proceeded through the intersection and collided with the driver of a gray Honda Civic, who ran a red light while heading southbound on Clovis Avenue at 45 mph.

The patrol car spun out of control and crashed into the driver’s side of a Honda Civic in the No. 1 lane on westbound Olive Avenue.

The officer was taken to the hospital with minor-to-moderate injuries.

The Honda driver sustained minor injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the Fresno Police Department.
