Construction Worker Hit and Killed by Car in Mesa
Mesa, Arizona: Mesa police said a construction worker died after being struck by a car Tuesday afternoon near Main Street and Greenfield Road.
The incident was reported around 12:30 p.m.
Authorities said the construction worker was placing cones and equipment on the side of the road at a construction site in the area when a driver abruptly swerved to avoid colliding with another vehicle turning into a driveway.
The driver went into the middle lane and struck the worker.
The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead later.
The victim was wearing a traffic vest at the time of the accident.
The driver involved stopped and remained at the scene.
Authorities said alcohol or drugs were not factors in the crash.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
