Construction Worker Killed in Phoenix Crash on Interstate 10

Phoenix, Arizona: A construction worker died in a crash involving a semi-truck that happened early Thursday morning near Interstate 10 and Guadalupe Road.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at around 1:30 a.m. at a construction zone in the westbound lanes.

DPS said two traffic lanes in the area were closed for construction work when a commercial boom lift moving from the closure across the open lanes to the right shoulder was hit by a semi-truck.

The operator of the boom lift was thrown from the cage of the lift onto the roadway.

The victim died at a hospital where he had been rushed for treatment.

The worker was employed by a sub-subcontractor for the Arizona Department of Transportation.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
