Bakersfield, California (February 25, 2023) – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified a teen passenger killed in a suspected DUI collision on February 4.
The accident happened at Alta Vista Drive and Irene Street.
According to police, 15-year-old Jamie Anthony Perez of Bakersfield was a passenger in a stolen Kia Optima. The Kia and a Toyota Tundra crashed at the intersection.
Responding firefighters confirmed Perez dead at the crash site.
The Kia driver, Timothy Javier Leal, was arrested for DUI by police.
No additional information concerning this crash was released.
An investigation is ongoing.
