Cyclist Dies After Colliding With Car in Simi Valley
Simi Valley, California: 55-year-old Michael Sorensen of Simi Valley died after he was hit by a vehicle while riding a bicycle Tuesday afternoon in Simi Valley.
According to the Simi Valley Police Department, the accident occurred around 1 p.m. at West Los Angeles Avenue and Quimisa Drive.
Police said Sorensen was riding a bicycle southbound on Quimisa Drive when he reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign while turning left at the intersection and collided with a car going westbound on Los Angeles Avenue.
Emergency personnel attempted to resuscitate Sorensen, but the rider died at the scene.
The driver stopped and cooperated with investigators.
The intersection was closed for investigation until shortly after 5:30 p.m.
