Cyclist Dies After Colliding with SUV in North Sacramento
Sacramento, California: A man in his 40s died after he was hit by an SUV while riding a bicycle Thursday in north Sacramento.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident occurred around noon on Northgate Boulevard near Del Paso Boulevard.
Investigators said the man was riding a bicycle northbound on Northgate Boulevard, approaching Del Paso Boulevard, possibly in the bicycle lane.
The driver of a Ford Bronco driven by a man in his 20s was also traveling northbound on Northgate Boulevard when the cyclist moved into the car’s path.
The cyclist was struck and thrown from the bike, hitting the SUV’s hood and windshield.
Emergency personnel transported the rider to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the SUV was not injured and cooperated with investigators.
