Driver Arrested on Suspicion of DUI Hit-and-Run That Left Bicyclist Dead in Clovis
Cyclist Dies in Clovis Crash on Herndon and Locan Avenues
Clovis, California: A bicyclist died, and a driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run after a crash that happened Wednesday evening in Clovis, the California Highway Patrol said.
The accident happened at about 7 p.m. on Herndon and Locan avenues.
CHP said a man was riding his bicycle west on Herndon when another man driving a white Dodge pickup hit him.
The cyclist was thrown from the bike and sustained fatal injuries.
The pickup driver went to his home near the scene but was later located by police.
Authorities said the driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident, with a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit.
The suspect was being evaluated and was expected to be booked into the Fresno County Jail for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges.
