Cyclist Hit and Critically Injured by DUI Driver in Mesa
Mesa, Arizona: A bicyclist was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a DUI suspect Friday morning in Mesa.
According to Mesa police, the incident occurred around 6 a.m. at Gilbert Road and Old Gilbert Road.
A car was traveling northbound on Gilbert when it hit a curb, went up onto landscaping gravel, and crossed into the southbound lane of Old Gilbert.
A man riding a bicycle west from the canal on Old Gilbert was struck by the vehicle.
The cyclist was hospitalized in critical condition.
Investigators said the driver was intoxicated, and charges are pending.
