Cyclist Hit and Killed by Car in Shasta County
Shasta County, California: A 38-year-old woman died after she was struck by a vehicle while riding her bicycle Monday night near Burney in Shasta County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened just after 9 p.m. near Rocky Ridge Road.
Authorities said the female rider was traveling east on the south shoulder, and an elderly driver of a 2015 Subaru Impreza was also heading east when she drifted onto the shoulder.
The car rear-ended the bicycle, ejecting the rider.
The woman died from her injuries at the scene.
Officers do not believe drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
