Victor Cunanan Killed in Apple Valley Bicycle Accident at Thunderbird Road and Wichita Road
Cyclist Hit and Seriously Injured by Car in Apple Valley Earlier This Month Dies at Hospital
Apple Valley, California: 54-year-old Victor Cunanan of Apple Valley died days after he was hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in Apple Valley.
According to the Apple Valley Police Department, the accident took place around 9:10 p.m. on June 3, at Thunderbird Road and Wichita Road.
Police officers responded to the scene and determined that Cunanan was riding a bicycle eastbound in the No. 1 lane of Thunderbird Road. At the same time, a 36-year-old Apple Valley man was driving a black Ford Explorer in the same lane, behind the cyclist. Both men were approaching the intersection with Wichita Road when the vehicle struck the bicyclist under unclear circumstances.
The driver of the car stopped and remained at the scene.
Cunanan was transported to a local hospital with major injuries. He was later airlifted to another hospital for further treatment. Authorities said the victim later died on June 7.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigative Team (M.A.I.T) is investigating the accident.
