Cyclist in Critical Condition after Colliding with Minivan near Sycamore Cove

Malibu, California: A 61-year-old cyclist was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition after colliding with a minivan Monday afternoon on Pacific Coast Highway near Sycamore Cove.

The accident was reported around 12:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of PCH, also known as Highway 1.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found the bicyclist breathing but not moving.

A medical helicopter was requested to respond to transport the victim to the hospital. Traffic in both directions of the highway was stopped to allow the helicopter to land.

The cyclist was taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks where he was listed in critical condition.

The driver of the minivan stopped and cooperated with investigators.

CHP Ventura Office is investigating the collision.
