3 Adults, 2 Kids Hurt in Roseville Car Accident on I-80 at Eureka Road

Roseville, California – Three adults and two kids were injured following a major traffic collision involving two vehicles on Sunday afternoon in Roseville, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred a while before 3:00 p.m. on eastbound I-80 at the Eureka Road off-ramp.

Police said Dale Benjamin of Antelope, 52, was driving on the off-ramp from southbound Atlantic Street to eastbound I-80 in a 2017 Nissan Frontier.

Benjamin did not ”negotiate the cloverleaf ” and headed across the center divider separating the 80 Freeway on-ramp from the Eureka Road off-ramp.

The Frontier then broadsided a 2020 Hyundai Palisade operated by 43-year-old Ryan Penano of Rancho Cordova, causing the Palisade to overturn.

Benjamin’s Frontier crossed all off-ramp lanes and drove south before crashing into a metal guardrail and descending a steep embankment.

Benjamin sustained severe injuries, while his passenger suffered moderate injuries following the crash.

Penano and his two passengers, only identified as kids, sustained severe injuries.

All five patients were transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center by ambulance.

Authorities confirmed everyone was wearing a seatbelt at the time.

An investigation is ongoing.
