David Robbins and Rosie Mayes Killed in Head-On Collision on SR 33 in Los Banos
Merced, California – The Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office has identified the two drivers who were killed in a head-on collision near Los Banos in Merced County on Thursday night.
The accident happened on Highway 33 near Christian Avenue at around 9:45 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
18-year-old David Isaac Robbins was driving a 2020 Honda northbound on Highway 33 and may have been attempting to pass another car when he drove into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a 2015 Nissan driven by 75-year-old Rosie Lee Mayes.
Mayes and Robbins, both residents of Dos Palos, were killed in the accident.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
