Deadly Collision on Southbound 405 Freeway in Westwood

Los Angeles, California: A man died in a multi-vehicle collision that happened early Monday morning on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in the Westwood area of Los Angeles.

According to the California Highway Patrol, at least four vehicles collided near Sunset Boulevard.

The pileup happened at around 3:36 a.m., prompting all southbound traffic to be diverted off the freeway at Skirball.

A man was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was unclear if there were other people injured in the collision.

As of 7 a.m., only three lanes were back open. The remaining lanes were reopened approximately 90 minutes later.
